I stepped into the future. That’s what it felt like, entering this remote and otherworldly landscape. Like a space explorer, setting foot on an alien planet. I feel humble. I feel thrilled.
NASA tests Mars robots and instruments here. I can easiliy sense why.
I wander around, joyfully, aimlessly, immersing myself in the scenery. Five meters pass, maybe fifty. Or is it five hundered years? Time seems to stand still here. Or it doesn’t exist at all.
Or maybe I am wrong. And have moved backward in time. Encountering a planet Earth, yet untouched by human interference, vast and serene. All possibilities lie before us. We can start over. Maybe we can do better this time. Or maybe the Anthropocene never happened. The universe blinked, and chose differently. All stayed calm and peaceful. I feel relieved. And walk on.
